Palestine - Bethlehem

We went to Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus, in West Bank. This actually sounds more dangerous than it really is - tons of tour buses go there every day. Of course, we hate group tours, so we went to the Palestinian East Jerusalem, took a mini bus to the West Bank checkpoint, and took a taxi from there after we cleared the checkpoint.

East Jerusalem:
At the Checkpoint - inside the check-point looks somewhat like a mix of a prison entrance and an immigration building. There are over 500 checkpoints in the West Bank:

This is the 'security wall' Israeli government built around the West Bank, 436 miles long and still in construction:
Graffiti on the Palestine side of the Security Wall:
This is the Church of the Nativity, one of the world's oldest churches:
This is the small cave inside the church cited by tradition as Jesus' birthplace:

A bunch of your pictures aren't loading! I feel like I am missing the trip.

Donnie - it's really interesting to see this region after reading so much about it in the news!

Gabe - you know, my brother in Korea said the same thing, but we can see all pictures here! I think maybe it's the pictures that I flipped to be vertical - are you only seeing horizontal pictures?

So what's your latest agenda? Africa still in the works? I want to see at least one dangerous 'looking' photo of a lion, or rhino, or ...? Maybe you can a spend few days with the Meerkat family.

BTW - is it too late for Antartica? I forget if that was a potential trip from South America or Africa. Or, I guess there's always the next trip around the world to get pictures of that for me. We'll babysit for you... :)

Stay safe!

(sp) Antarctica... whatever

Donnie - we fly to Kenya on 11/19 to do a Kenya/Tanzania safari (well, we are hoping to do one - we haven't booked it or anything...we like doing everything last minute to add to the stress), then we fly to India on 12/20 to meet Mr.& Mrs. Brooklyn there! Antarctica (sp?) was left off the itinerary because it is really expensive...

So did you change jobs? Do you actually work in an office now rather than at the comfort of your own home? Did you really cut your hair?

I'll look forward to the Africa pics.

Yes, work in Spokane now full time (as of 6/25/07), at the office. Nice to get back to regular work habits and make less money..er, uh something like that. Really, I don't miss Seattle one bit.

I did cut my hair for the interview - only to meet a guy with a real long pony tail... oh well. It is slowly buy surely growing back. By next spring you may never tell! Donnie :)
