Jordan - The Dead Sea & Around

We were sitting in the hotel lobby trying to plan our next move, when we ran into Ian and Danielle, newly weds from LA. We decided to join (i.e. mooch off) their tour and had probably the most active day on this entire trip!

First, we went to Mt.Nebo, where Moses is said to have seen the promised land. He died and was buried around the area. Unfortunately, it was too hazy to see all the way to Jerusalem:

Then, we went to Bethany-Beyond-Jordan, where Jesus is said to have been baptized by John the Baptist. The picture is of Jordan River - the other side is Israel:
Then, we went to swim at the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth and with such high concentration of salt in the water due to evaporation that people just float like logs. It was the strangest feeling - no effort was necessary at all to float. In fact, when I tried to swim, it just flipped me over, kind of like swimming in jello. This is the ever-popular 'look! I am reading in the water!' photo:

Lastly, we went to the Wadi Mujib Nature Reserve, where we hiked up into a gorge, ending in a water fall. The hike got harder as we got closer to the water fall - the poor guide had to carry me on his back couple times:

Amazing Photos...Might be heading home for a bit, not sure. We close Singapore on 11/25 and India was delayed until Jan. 25. Not sure if I will be going there or start up again in Manila on Jan 12.
